Vegetable Ivory

Tagua is the nut of a palm tree that grows in the rainforests of Ecuador, Colombia and other areas of the South American continent. It is also known as vegetable ivory for its resemblance to animal ivory in colour, hardness and durability, and together with varoius other seeds, such as Açaì, Pambil, Coconut and more, it is a real alternative to the deforestation and therefore supports the conservation of the tropical forest ecosystem. Each object is designed and carved by a group of skilled, local artisans.
